Dancesport
There are many different disciplines in DanceSport. Common to all of them, at top competition level, are high levels of competence in physical strength, agility, coordination, stamina, fitness, discipline, teamwork, grace, style and musical interpretation. All of these features are considered when judging a dance.
Breaking is an athletic urban dance style originating in the USA, introduced to The World Games in 2022. Single athletes (B-Boys & B-Girls) compete against each other in ‘Battles’. There are two short rounds per battle; scores for each battle are determined by a team of judges. There are men’s and women’s classes.
In Standard Dance, the couple dances are Quickstep, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Waltz. The competition format is the same as for Latin.
In Latin Dance, couples compete in 5 dance types: Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Paso Doble, Rumba and Samba. There are three rounds: First Round, Semi-Final and Final. 14 couples qualify for the Semi-finals and 6 couples for the Final.
