Boules Sports

Boules is a precision sport in which the objective is to throw or roll metal balls as close as possible to a small target ball, usually on an outdoor level rectangular pitch. It is played extensively as a recreational sport, especially in Europe but increasingly all over the world.

Lyonnaise: Athlets take a run-up before releasing the boules aiming to end closest to a small target ball on a carpet, and features two events: Precision Shooting and Progressive Shooting. In Lyonnaise Precision Shooting, the athlete scoring the most points wins the match. In Lyonnaise Progressive Shooting, all athletes compete over a five-minute period in each round, and the one with the highest score at the end wins.

Pétanque is played from a stationary position and features two events: Doubles and Precision Shooting. In Pétanque Doubles, the game ends when one team gets to 13 points. At the end of each play, the team with the boule closest to the jack wins the end. In Pétanque Precision Shooting, the athlete scoring the most points wins the match. Each shooter performs a series of twenty shots.
